Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 Response: Saving Lives Today, Preparing for Tomorrow

The World Bank under the COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Project (ERHSP) has helped the Government of Sri Lanka respond to emergency needs by providing essential medical supplies since May 2020. The project work towards strengthening the country’s pandemic preparedness and response by establishing isolation and treatment facilities, increase testing and diagnostic capacity, and strengthening the infection control and surveillance systems. Since its inception, the project has assisted –

  • Procuring 1,000,000 Rapid Antigen Test Kits
  • Procuring 390,000 PCR Test Kits
  • Procuring 1,100,000 sets of Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPE)
  • 2,457,064 beneficiaries under the project’s cash transfer program
